Natural Stones

The Timeless Appeal and Durability of Natural Stone in Landscaping

Natural stone, formed over millions of years through heat and pressure from the Earth's core, includes travertine, marble, and limestone. Popular for outdoor uses like patios, these stones provide a durable surface. They are installed over soil and sand, offering a permeable, weed-prone surface that may shift over time.

Natural stone is made naturally during the rock cycle. The minerals in natural stone patio slabs come from the same liquid and gas particles that formed the Earth. Since then, over millions of years, a combination of heat and intense pressure that was generated from the core of the Earth created blocks of natural stone. These natural stone blocks include travertine, marble, sandblasted stone, limestone, and onyx.

Natural stone tiles are still the most popular choice of material for outdoor patios, pathways, driveways, and utility areas. Natural sandstone paving looks attractive, but also offers something more than that. Natural stone paving slabs form a durable and hardwearing surface that will last for years to come.

Natural stone in the same way as with cement pavers are installed over a compacted base of soil and sand. Because there isn’t any grout between the joints, natural stone offer a permeable surface that allows water to pass through. However, this also means that they may shift over time and that weeds could grow between the stones.
